Event Cancellation by UALR Benton

UALR Benton Center reserves the right to cancel an event due to low enrollment or other circumstances which would make the event non-viable. If UALR Benton cancels an event, registrants will be offered a full refund.

  Registration Cancellation by Participant

  1. Unless specifically stated on registration materials, the deadline to receive a refund for your registration is 24 hours before the event. 
  2. Registration cancellations received by the deadline may be eligible to receive a full refund.
  3. Refunds will not be available for registrants who choose not to attend an event or who do not request 24 hours prior to the event. 
  4. Cancellations will be accepted via phone or e-mail, and must be received by the stated cancellation deadline.
  5. All refund requests must be made by the purchaser or credit card holder.
  6. Refunds will be credited back to the original credit card or cash/check will be returned.

  These above policies apply to all UALR Benton Center events unless otherwise noted in the corresponding program materials.

    Have you ever wished you could properly select, prepare, grill or smoke various meats and vegetables on your new grill/smoker without producing charred hunks of "mystery meat" your poor family has to endure?

     Well, now you can by signing up for the first HSV-LLI "Smokin & Grillin" class with Village "Master Griller" Dr. Bubba Smith and his BBBQ (Best BBQ Buddy), Bruce Huddleston of Ouachita Hearth & Patio.

    Bubba and Bruce will conduct a lively, entertaining, and informative class on how to properly use your grill or smoker in ways you never imagined! Whether you are a "carnivore" or "vegan," this class will teach you to become the master of your backyard domain.

    The class will be held on Tuesday, August 22 from 8am-2pm, at the Christ of the Hills Methodist Church located at 700 Baleric Road in Hot Springs Village. Participants will prepare various cuts of meats and vegetables then dine on those preparations at lunch. Attendance is limited to 18 students so sign up early!

    Cost for the course is $60 for LLI members and $85 for non-members. All meats/vegetables and equipment will be provided.

    The Lifelong Learning Institute and the Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival are partnering to bring one of the films that was highlighted in their 25th Anniversary Film Festival last year. 

    "Bright Lights", produced by Todd Fisher is the story of Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher. who passed away within days of one another after this film was made.  After viewing this film, you will feel like you know these wonderful and interesting personalities personally.

    The Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival has brought economic and cultural benefits as well as nationwide attention to the Hot Springs area. 

    The HSDFF enriches the cultural life of our community, state and region with its unprecedented gathering of the best documentary films.

    Members: $5 | Non-members: $10

    The Lifelong Learning Institute and the Coronado Community Center invite you to attend our Farm to Table evening of Arkansas farms fine dining. 

    This evening of exquisite dining will be served on September 21, 2017 at 6:00 PM at the Coronado Center Patio. (We will serve in the Grand Room at the Coronado Center should there be inclement weather.) Our Chefs for the evening will Chef Johnna from the DeSoto Club, Chef Paul from Froggy's, and Chef Elaine Nesmith from Itz Gud Fud.

    All foods served during this event will be native and grown here in Arkansas. Featured farmers are: Anderson Farms, JV Farms, Charlie Joe Farmstead, Ouachita Mountain Valley Farms, Chang farms, Heirloom Acres, and Petti Jean Farms.

    The Menu for the evening will be:

    • Smoked Trout Mousse on Brioche with Paddlefish Caviar
    • Pan Seared Duck Breast a top Johnny Cakes with Muscadine Dem Glace
    • Heirloom Tomato Salad topped with Fall Field tossed in Peppered Bacon Vinaigrette with goat cheese, Grilled Stone Fruit and Fried Green Tomato Croutons
    • Petite Jean Smoked Ham Stuffed Chicken Roulade, Braised Rainbow Swiss Chard, Pecan Rice Pilaf with Sweet Bee Honey Beet Salad and Jus
    • Grilled Peach and Berry Crepes with White Chocolate Chantilly Crème.

    We will also have Vegetarian or Vegan meals available for the evenings dinner. Menu for Vegan and Vegetarian to be released upon completion.

    This event will include selected wines paired with the meal. 

    The cost of the event is $75.00 per person.
